Conversion of a dilapidated corrugated-metal barn in Marlow into a multi-generational family home within the Chilterns National Landscape.

The barn’s existing steel frame, footprint, height and position are retained unchanged. The frame is wrapped in timber enclosing high-performance insulation, and complemented by flint retaining walls, zinc roofs and black metal details.

The conversion is a sustainable upgrade and reuse of an existing building with no additional footprint. It brings in air source heat pumps (ASHP) and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (MVHR), new native tree and hedgerow planting, wildflower grassland, and food-growing areas for self-sufficiency.
